Llandaff Street Apartments

This project is one of first apartment building designed for an up-zoned neighbourhood and so required a sensitive response to the more historic and adjacent RFBs. A slim deep block encouraged a central core with apartments on either side. This meant that every apartment has at least 2 orientations ensuring 100% cross ventilation.

All apartments, (a mix of 1 and 2 bedrooms), have their living areas and terraces placed at either end, ensuring they take advantage of the more expansive views, to the street or to the North. On the side, where privacy could be an issue all the bedrooms and bathrooms have operable louvres to allow privacy and light to be controlled. All kitchens are placed to engage with both the terraces and living areas. On the South the kitchen overlooks both the terrace and the street ensuring good passive surveillance, urban engagement and afternoon sun. As with all of MWA’s work, materials, being either off form or factory finish, are specified to ensure long term endurance and minimal maintenance.
