The project was for a set of bookshelves to house a small personal library at a Blue Mountains residence. Placed in the long entry room of the house, one shelf screens and composes the room into two spaces whilst the other frames the access to the remainder of the home.
Taking cues from the materials of the existing room, solid-edged spotted gum ply is used throughout the screen shelf whilst the dimension and height of the clerestory windows is matched throughout the top shelves. An alcoved seat at the entry give one the chance to take on and off shoes amidst the books or rest after a long walk through the surrounding national park.
