58 Carr Street converts a carpark void into a room with a view inserted over a ground floor carpark and between level 1 carpark and the street. The 1960’s object building is then stitched into the streetscape as urban fabric. The deep beam was required to transfer the load of 14 new balconies above, retuned around the frame, and widened to deepen the reveal and carved to create volume!
A great project to work on that was ‘Highly Commended in the 2021 National Trust Awards and received an AIA award in Adaptive Reuse!
